With Christmas just around the corner there are a number of things to do in Bath at this time of year. One of the most popular attractions is the Bath Christmas Market which is the perfect place to visit this time of year to soak up the festive atmosphere.
Here is a sort guide to the Bath Christmas Market, with useful travel tips, the location and what you can expect to see and the festive market.
Bath Christmas Market
Bath is a magical place to visit in and around Christmas and the Bath Christmas Market is one of the must visited attractions. Get down early to find that special and unique gift for a loved one, or just to make a dent in that huge list the children may have given you this year.
If you have never attended the Bath Christmas Market before you are in for a real treat! With up to 140 traditional stalls, which resemble small sheds right in Baths city centre packed full of unique gifts, great food, drink it doesn’t really get any better.
Bath has a huge wealth of shops of which most will be taking part in Baths late night shopping times, and remaining open until 8pm every night except on a Thursday where they will remain open till 9pm. Late night opening times begin on Thursday the 15th of November this year, running through to the 20th of December 2012.
The Bath Christmas market also has entertainment such as carol singers which add beautifully to the festive scene of the Bath Christmas Market. My favourite part which I touched on briefly is the food as there is so much beautiful food for you to try from German sausages, sweets and not forgetting the mulled wine.
Getting To The Bath Christmas Market
The main setting of the Bath Christmas Market is at the foot of the Cathedral right at the heart of the centre of Bath, which is about a 5 minute walk from the train station.
If you are planning on driving and wish to park in the centre, I would highly recommend parking under Baths brand new South Gate shopping precinct where there is ample parking under ground.
Bath also has three fantastic Park and Ride facilities which will be open late every Friday and Saturday of the Christmas Market to help ease congestion in the city. Baths Park & Ride areas can be found here on our interactive map.
If you are planning on attending the festive market by bus there are plenty on service providers who will take you to Bath bus station which is located a stone throws away. National Express and First Group offers fantastic services to and around the city of Bath.
